Children’s Park Project in North Jakarta Hampered by Land Availability

North Jakarta Parks Sub-Department plans to add more children’s parks in every sub-district in its jurisdiction. This program aims to facilitate children in dense population settlement to be able to express themselves positively as children in their age should be.

I’ve ordered section heads in sub-district level to find the lands, especially in dense and slum settlements, to be transformed into children’s parks

However, the plan is hampered by the difficulty in finding strategic lands, which should meet with the appropriate children park design, in North Jakarta’s dense settlements.

Children Park to Be Constructed at Tanah Tinggi

I’ve ordered section heads in sub-district level to find the lands, especially in dense and slum settlements, to be transformed into children’s parks. As for the park’s construction, it is the responsibility of Jakarta Parks Department,” stated Head of North Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Fajar Sauri, Tuesday (6/3).

If there were residents having lands and planned to sell it, Sauri asked them to report it to his department.

“The residents can send papers and supported documents on their lands’ status. From there, we will follow it up to Jakarta Parks Department,” he uttered.

Earlier, Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama asked his subordinates to acquire lands belong to the residents in dense settlements to be transformed into children’s parks.

“Later, the park can be named by the landowner’s name. For example, the landowner wanted to name it Mr. Budi’s Park, that’s okay. Children’s park is important,” asserted Basuki.
